ARTIFACTS
Standard 1: Promote Child Development and Learning
Course number 258
I chose this artifact because it deals with the overall comfort for children in being able to move around and explore with less injuriries. I learned from this assignment that it's always good to have enough space in your classroom so that the children won't get bored with the same areas and the things in them. All the different centers that are available will change as the theme changes every month so that means adding new things, taking away somethings, and changing the name of the areas if need be. Children will look forward to exploring in a different area everyday they come to school. I also learned that having at least three or more of something like a doctor's tool set or car set is very important so that their will be less confrontation.

STANDARD 2: BUILDING FAMILY AND COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS
I chose this artifactfrom my 258 class becuase it gave me a chance to talk with someone in my family as well as from the daycare center in regards to their experience in raising a child, who was their support system, and the overall outcome for them. I learned from this that when you think you are having a tough time their is always someone else out there who might be struggling and going through harder times. This is another way that I became such a great listner by being supportive and understanding for others becuase everyone doesn't have that in their life. In the child care centers it is extremely important to build that one on one relationship with family members of the children so that evryone can be on the same level of expectations, outcomes, and beaware of any concerns without feeling uncomfortable.

Standard 3: Observe, document, assess Children's Development
I picked this artifact from my Child Development 258 becaus I talked about a girl I observed through her strengths, not so strong areas, and some ways to help her in those areas. I learned from this that every child might be good in a lot of other areas but when it comes self-esteem and being able to speak up on a question or subject matter they tend to be shy especially if they 're not to sure if their answer is going to be correct. Most children have a hard time with accepting if they're wrong about something but just reassuring them that even though they got it wrong they can always tke another shot at whatever it was is always a great feeling. It gives the child a chance to say look I did it this time around and I know how to do it know from matching to counting to recognizing an object or word.

Standard 4: Using Developmentally Effective Approaches
I chose these artifact from my 259 class because I had a chance to implement these activities during my week in charge. I learned that it's best to stay on a subject for no longer than two weeks depending on the childrens' interest because an entire month on one theme can become boring to them. Regardless of how interesting an activity maybbe or look when children have had enough they will express it through their actions and words.

Standard: 5 Using Content Knowledge to Build a Meaningful Curriculum
I chose these two artifcts from my 258 class because I know that math and writing can be not so fun to some children and some children don't like to answer questions becuase they're either unsure of what to say or just dto answer. I learned from these two artifacts that whatever you do when it comes down to making a lesson plan or doing a large group activity its very important to think of ways to make learning fun and not frustrating so when one way doesn't workout try something different. That is very important when it comes down to working with children you always have to have a backup plan.

Standard 6: Become A Professional
I chose these artifacts from my 258 class because they show what I have for now and their is more to be added later on. These certificates goes to show that even though I was working, in school, and being a mom to two children I still managed to find time to do what was required of me to do. I learned from switching my majors is that when one thing doesn't work for you that means that their is something better for me to do verses what I really thought I wanted to do.

Standard 7: Early Childhood Field Experience
I chose these two artifacts from my Child Development 259 class becauase it shows that I've been dedicated to getting the experience and hours I need for this class to move forward and become a great teacher. I've learned through my experience with working with 3-5 year olds that some days will be great and others will feel like the day will never end but as long as I implement the lesson plans into them in a fun way they will rememeber all the activities that we've done together as well as the long discussions.
